Amadou Haidara on Newcastle United radar?

Newcastle United are set to actively pursue new signings for the summer transfer window, particularly focusing on strengthening their midfield with RB Leipzig players Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara, who are now considered key targets for the club.

According to Dean Jones (as reported by GIVEMESPORT), the Magpies have expressed interest in Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara, both midfielders from RB Leipzig. While there have been recent rumours linking Szoboszlai to Newcastle, the club are also looking to revive their pursuit of Haidara, a highly-regarded defensive midfielder, after missing out on him previously.

Newcastle United are currently just one point away from securing a spot in the Champions League for next season. Under the leadership of Eddie Howe, the club has performed exceptionally well, surpassing expectations set by the new owners, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, who took over the club in October 2021.

After a two-decade absence, Newcastle United have the opportunity to make a comeback to the pinnacle of European competition. Just 18 months ago, the team was battling relegation from the Premier League, but the transformation has been remarkable. As a result, the summer transfer window is expected to be highly thrilling for the club.

With the possibility of returning to the Champions League, Newcastle United recognises the need to invest in their playing squad. A new creative midfielder is believed to be high on Eddie Howe’s priority list, with recent links to James Maddison from Leicester City.

There have been recent rumours linking Dominik Szoboszlai to a move to St. James’ Park, which aligns with Eddie Howe’s reported preferences. However, it is believed that Howe is also prioritising the acquisition of a defensive-minded midfield enforcer. This is where Szoboszlai’s RB Leipzig teammate, Amadou Haidara, enters the picture.

With the potential prospect of Champions League football at Newcastle, the club will hope to swiftly negotiate a deal for Haidara. He possesses an energetic and versatile playing style as a box-to-box midfielder. He excels in tackling and has strong defensive attributes. Moreover, he can adapt effectively to various roles within the midfield.
