Newcastle United planning swoop for Watford’s Joao Pedro?

Newcastle United have reportedly set their sights on a deal for Watford attacker Joao Pedro in this summer’s transfer window.

The Brazil international has been a consistent player for Watford this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 32 Championship matches. However, as Chris Wilder’s side are currently ranked 12th in the league, it is likely that the Hornets will not be playing in the top tier of English football next season.

Pedro was signed from Fluminense in late 2019, and has made over 100 appearances for Watford, helping them achieve promotion to the Premier League in the 2020-21 season.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are showing a strong interest in the Brazilian and are preparing to make an offer for him during the summer transfer window. The report adds that the Magpies had a £30 million bid for the winger turned down last summer, but they remain interested in signing him before the start of the 2023-24 season.

Pedro has a contract with Watford until June 2028.
