Tottenham Transfer News: Spurs Scout Eintracht Frankfurt Striker Younes Ebnoutalib

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Younes Ebnoutalib as a potential striker target, with TEAMtalk claiming the club are tracking the Eintracht Frankfurt forward closely.

Why Tottenham Are Watching Ebnoutalib

Spurs scouts were at Deutsche Bank Park for Frankfurt’s 1-0 win over Cologne last Friday. They were officially there to assess loanee Mickey Moore, but they also saw Ebnoutalib score the only goal of the game.

The 23-year-old joined Frankfurt in January from SV Elversberg, where he scored 12 goals in 17 Bundesliga 2 matches. His start in Germany’s top flight was slow, with just one goal. This season has been very different. He has eight goal contributions and sits joint second in the Bundesliga scoring charts. Transfermarkt values the 6ft 3in forward at £15m.

Frankfurt’s Record of Producing Elite Strikers

Frankfurt have built a reputation for developing centre-forwards who move on to bigger clubs. Luka Jovic, André Silva, Sébastien Haller, Randal Kolo Muani, Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike all went through the club. Ebnoutalib is now being talked about as the next name on that list.

Could Marcus Krösche’s Exit Lower the Price?

Frankfurt usually drive a hard bargain, but European football expert Andy Brassell thinks the situation may be changing. Speaking to talkSPORT, he suggested the departure of sporting director Marcus Krösche could affect the club’s pulling power and Ebnoutalib’s valuation.

Brassell questioned whether Frankfurt players will keep the same aura once Krösche has gone, and said that could make this a good time for Tottenham to act. He also said Ebnoutalib may not be ready to lift a side immediately, and described him as more of a prospect for the future.

TEAMtalk did not name any other clubs interested in the forward.

What’s Next for Tottenham?

Spurs have a big test on Saturday, when they travel to Stamford Bridge to face London rivals Chelsea. They will be looking for back-to-back Premier League wins.
