Chelsea plot move for Malo Gusto?

The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are planning to make an offer for Lyon’s right-back Malo Gusto in January.

The Blues have already made significant additions to their team during the January transfer window, investing around £150m on six new arrivals.

The West London outfit have acquired Mykhaylo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana on permanent deals, and also secured Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid.

However, Chelsea have not finished their transfer business yet, and are still looking for new targets, with a new full-back believed to be a priority.

Chelsea have identified Gusto as a potential replacement for Reece James, who is currently out with an injury, and they are working on a bid for the Frenchman before the transfer window closes.

The report states that Lyon are reluctant to let the teenager go until the end of the season, but Chelsea are hoping to finalise a deal this month and will try to entice Les Gones with an initial offer.

The French Under-21 player has made a total of 54 appearances for Lyon, including 15 starts in Ligue 1 this season.

Gusto’s contract at the Groupama Stadium is set to expire in less than 18 months.
