Newcastle United keen on Alvaro Morata?

Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Newcastle United.

The 29-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Juventus, but the Old Lady opted against making his loan deal permanent.

With Bianconeri not prepared to pay the clause of €35m, the Spain international has returned to his parent club Atletico Madrid.

He has previously stated that “several teams” are after him over the transfer window, with Arsenal said to be one of the clubs interested in his signature.

According to Calciomercato, the Magpies are also looking at the possibility of signing the Spaniard as they bid to bolster their striking options ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The report goes on to claim that Eddie Howe’s side could face fierce competition from Barcelona and Bayern Munich, while a return to Turin is not out of the question if the Serie A giants can negotiate a lower asking price.

Los Rojiblancos are looking to receive a fee somewhere in the region of €30m for Morata, who is under contract with the club until 2023.
