Liverpool to launch bid for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio?

Liverpool have reportedly expressed an interest in making an audacious move for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio.

The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has enjoyed a productive summer transfer window so far, snapping up three players to his first-team squad at Anfield.

Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsey have arrived from Benfica, Fulham and Aberdeen respectively.

According to Deportes COPE reporter Melchor Ruiz, the Merseyside giants Liverpool are looking to complete a deal for Asensio over the coming weeks.

The 26-year-old playmaker, who has a year left on his contract, has spent much of his senior days at the Bernabeu, netting 49 goals in 235 appearances across all competitions.

He has fallen down the pecking order under Carlo Ancelotti, however, with 12 of his 31 Spanish top-flight appearances during the most recent campaign coming from the substitutes’ bench.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Manchester United and Chelsea were credited with interest as they bid to strengthen their own squads.

Los Blancos are said to be looking for a fee somewhere in the region of £35m, while the Spaniard allegedly wants to earn €7m per year at his next club.
