Chelsea are considering a swoop to sign Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, according to The Athletic, as quoted by Metro.

The Blues are looking to improve their frontline after Romelu Lukaku struggled in his first season in west London after a club-record £97.5m move last summer.

The report adds that Chelsea were thought to be interested in RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku to add more depth to Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The Premier League giants are now entertaining the idea of raiding Inter Milan for the second successive summer to recruit Martinez.

The report outlines that Chelsea would need to pay a big transfer fee for the Argentine seeing him as a key player for the Serie A giants.

Nerazzurri would be looking for a fee somewhere in the region of €80m for the 24-year-old striker, who scored 21 goals and registered three assists in 35 Italian top flight appearances last term.
