Liverpool to join race for Toronto youngster Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty

Liverpool have reportedly entered pole position in the race to complete a deal for Toronto FC youngster Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty.

The Canadian prospect has already been given 439 minutes of football in Major League Soccer.

The emergence of the 17-year-old forward has alerted many elite European clubs. He recently spent time at Arsenal and has now been given an opportunity to train with Liverpool.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Marshall-Rutty is due to spend further trial spells at other clubs over the coming weeks.

The teenager has one more year left to run on his contract at Toronto.
