West Ham United want Marcelo on free transfer?

Lyon centre-back and soon-to-be free agent Marcelo is reportedly the subject of interest from West Ham United.

The 33-year-old defender has been a regular for the Ligue 1 outfit during their impressive start to the season.

However, the Brazilian only has six months left to run on his contract at the Groupama Stadium and does not appear to sign an extension.

As a result, The Sun claims that The East London outfit could be Marcelo’s next destination, with the Hammers considering to sign him on a free transfer after having a £20m bid knocked back last summer.

The report adds that Marcelo’s situation is being monitored by a number of clubs, but the centre-back wants to join the Premier League as West Ham look to begin negotiations next month.

Marcelo clocked up five goals in 141 appearances for Lyon since his move from Besiktas in 2017.
