Newcastle United line up summer swoop for Odsonne Edouard

Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard is reportedly on the radar of Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Magpies are on the verge of a £300m takeover from the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, led by Prince Mohamed bin Salman.

The buying consortium is expected to focus on strengthening the squad this summer and the aim remains on signing at least one world-class striker.

Edouard, who has contributed 27 goals and 19 assists for the Scottish champions this term, has emerged as one of the transfer targets for the Tyneside outfit.

The 22-year-old defender was valued at more than £35million earlier this year but now he could be available for around £25m due to the financial crisis of the coronavirus pandemic.

Arsenal are also said to be keen on the Frenchman but they are unlikely to afford the frontman unless they recoup sufficient funds.
