Chelsea frontrunners to sign Declan Rice
Chelsea reportedly seem ready to try to win the race to sign West Ham United star Declan Rice during the summer transfer window.
The England international has established himself as one of the most highly-regarded midfielders in the world, racking up 215 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions.
He possesses a contract until the end of the 203-24 campaign and there is an option to extend by a further year.
According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old midfielder has no desire of entertaining any contract extension and wants to play Champions League football.
The report adds that there is now an acceptance among the club’s hierarchy that they may need to sell him during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea are just one of a number of clubs interested in Rice, and they could face stiff competition from both Manchester United and Manchester City.
The Blues will hope to sign the Englishman for less than his £150m price tag.
