Galatasaray plot Ibrahima Konate swoop
Galatasaray are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool during the summer transfer window, according to Turkish news outlet Aspor.
Galatasaray have been performing exceptionally well this season, emerging as the top team in Turkey with a six-point lead over Fenerbahce. As the domestic league draws to a close, the club are now turning their attention to the summer transfer window in hopes of making significant additions to its squad.
Their priority is to strengthen their defence, and they are exploring various options. While they were interested in signing players from the Premier League during the January transfer window, their focus has now shifted to building a squad capable of competing in the Champions League.
According to the report, Galatasaray have expressed interest in Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate. However, the 23-year-old is an important player for the Reds, and it is unlikely that they would consider a permanent transfer for him. At most, they may consider a loan move, but even then, the Frenchman is likely to attract interest from bigger clubs.
Liverpool are also currently looking to strengthen their defence and have plans for Konate in their future plans. Therefore, it is improbable that the rumour of Konate moving to Galatasaray holds any weight. Even if Galatasaray are keen on the Frenchman, it is unlikely that he would consider a move to Turkey at this stage of his career.
