Real Madrid plot summer move for Antonio Silva?
Real Madrid have reportedly made an approach to sign Benfica defender Antonio Silva as a future transfer target.
The 19-year-old has experienced a remarkable ascent at Estadio da Luz, featuring in 30 matches across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign.
With the exception of just four games, Silva’s appearances have primarily been in the Primeira Liga and the Champions League, where he has shone for Benfica, who currently lead the standings and are nearing qualification for the quarter-finals of the top-tier European football competition.
Silva’s ascent to fame has been so significant that he was selected for Portugal’s squad in the World Cup, where he played the entire match against South Korea in the group stage.
In September, Benfica acknowledged Silva’s increased status by offering him a new five-year contract that keeps him at the club.
However, despite this, the centre-back has drawn interest from potential suitors who are willing to make a substantial offer and test Benfica’s determination to hold on to him.
Real Madrid are reportedly considering Silva as a potential signing for the summer transfer window, as per Record.
There have been strong links between RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and a move to the Bernabeu, but Los Blancos may face competition from English clubs for his signature. Additionally, Leipzig are eager to retain their most valuable asset, possibly forcing Madrid to explore other options.
