Real Madrid have reportedly placed emphasis on signing 19-year-old Dutch wonderkid Xavi Simons from PSV Eindhoven this summer.

According to Fichajes, The reigning La Liga champions are interested in the 19-year-old midfielder. However, it appears that the teenager is likely to remain at PSV Eindhoven for the 2023/24 season.

The Dutchman spent most of his formative years at Barcelona after being signed from CD Thader Rojales. However, he did not complete his youth career at the Camp Nou as Paris Saint-Germain lured him away in 2019.

Simons left PSG last summer as he was not getting enough playing time. He joined PSV Eindhoven and has since been performing exceptionally well, contributing 16 goals and eight assists in 38 appearances.

The attacking midfielder has caught the eye of Real Madrid and is considered a potentially ideal replacement for Luka Modric.

Simons can also play on the flanks, similar to Federico Valverde, making him an attractive target for coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Moreover, Simons’ impressive record of 16 goals has made him an appealing option for Los Blancos, but the club may face tough competition from Premier League clubs for his signature.

It will be interesting to see whether Real Madrid can convince Simons to join them in the coming months.
