Arsenal lead race to sign Ivan Fresneda

Arsenal reportedly seem ready to try to win the race to sign Real Valladolid’s defender Ivan Fresneda during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners expressed interest in the Spaniard earlier this year, but they couldn’t reach an agreement with the La Liga outfit. However, the North Londoners are prepared to make another attempt in the summer, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, they are leading the race to secure his services.

Juventus have also been following the 18-year-old this season, but due to financial constraints, they are unable to compete with Arsenal.

The Bianconeri was recently penalised 15 points for financial fraud and will need to balance their books during the summer. As a result, they are unwilling to trigger the €30m release clause in Fresneda’s deal, and the Premier League leaders are become the front-runner to secure his signature.

Besides Arsenal, Newcastle United are also monitoring the defender, but it’s unlikely they will be able to persuade him.
