Real Madrid lining up move for Cristian Romero

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Real Madrid, Fichajes reports.

President Florentino Perez is said to be eager to bring the 24-year-old to the Bernabeu due to his recent exceptional performances for both club and country.

The Argentine played a crucial role in helping his nation win the FIFA World Cup 2022, and has continued to impress on the field for the Premier League giants.

After joining Spurs on a one-year loan deal from Atalanta in the summer of 2021, Romero’s option to buy was exercised, making his stay at the north London club permanent.

Since his arrival, the centre-back has been an integral part of the team, appearing in 50 matches for the club and delivering consistent solid performances in the current season under coach Antonio Conte.

His market value has skyrocketed to €60 million. Despite Madrid’s interest, Tottenham Hotspur has no intention of selling Romero, whose contract runs until 2027.

Los Blancos are reportedly interested in signing another centre-back to improve their rotation and add more world-class talent to the team, especially with the future of Nacho Fernandez being uncertain.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of Romero and believes he would be an ideal partner for Eder Militao, solving their defensive problems for years to come.
