Chelsea make £40m bid for PSG centre-back Presnel Kimpembe
Chelsea have reportedly tabled a formal £40m bid for Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Presnel Kimpembe.
The Blues have confirmed that they had secured the signature of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli on a long-term contract.
However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has openly acknowledged that he is prioritising more defensive additions in order to replace the likes of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
Manchester City’s Nathan Ake appeared to be Chelsea’s preferred destination before it became clear that the Netherlands international would be remaining at the Etihad Stadium.
Now, Chelsea are seemingly deliberating over whether to make sustained bids to sign PSG’s Kimpembe or Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.
The Daily Mail reports, that the Blues have already made a £40m bid for the services of Kimpembe, who has spent his entire career with the Parisians, having made 221 appearances in all competitions.
The report outlines that the French champions are prepared to sell the 26-year-old defender for a fee in the region of £42m.
The Frenchman has just two years left on his contract at Parc des Princes.
