Liverpool are reportedly keen to edge out Manchester United in the race to sign Celta Vigo starlet Stefan Bajcetic, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 16-year-old defender, who currently plays for Celta’s B youth team, has recently been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

A recent report suggested that the 20-time English champions were holding talks with the teenager’s representatives in the hope that a deal could be agreed ahead of the mid-season transfer window.

However, the defending Premier League champions are also firmly in the race for Bajcetic, who has impressed scouts from the Reds with his performances at youth level.

The Merseyside giants will also allegedly face fierce competition from Man United for Schalke 04 centre-back Ozan Kabak.
