Roma considering improved Chris Smalling bid

AS Roma are reportedly contemplating a fresh bid for Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling before the end of the summer transfer window.

The ex-England international impressed on loan at the Serie A outfit last season and has been persistently linked with a return to Giallorossi over the last few weeks.

The 30-year-old has not been involved in a competitive match for United during the 2020-21 campaign.

The Italian club have thus far been unable to reach an agreement with the Red Devils, but according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, a new improved bid will arrive in the coming days.

The centre-back will see his contract at the Old Trafford expire at the end of June 2022.

Smalling clocked up three goals and two assists in 37 appearances for Roma last term.
