Jonny Evans wants to extend his stay at Leicester City

Leicester City centre-back Jonny Evans is keen to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium.

With just eight months left to run on his contract, the defender is open to singing fresh terms at the East Midlands.

The 32-year-old said: “There’s been nothing formal in terms of contract talks, possibly that’s something my agent and the club will do in the near future, but I have really enjoyed my time here, if that option becomes available I’m sure it’s one I would take.

“If we can come to an agreement I’m sure it won’t be a problem and it will be sorted soon.”

The Northern Irishman joined the Foxes from West Brom in 2018 and has since gone on to make 77 appearances for Leicester, scoring three times.

Evans is preparing for Thursday’s Europa League opener with the Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk in Group G where they also encounter Braga and AEK Athens.
