Manchester United are reportedly pondering an improved bid for Bruno Fernandes, with the January transfer window set to close on Friday.

The Red Devils are yet to make a new signing this month and according to The Guardian, the Premier League giants will return with a new bid this week after they had an initial £38m bid rejected.

Sporting Lisbon are said to value the 25-year-old midfielder at around £72m, but the 20-time English champions are still in contact and hope to improve their bid before Friday.

The Portugal international has been in sensational form this season, contributing eight goals and seven assists.

Man United and currently sit fifth in the Premier League table.
