Arsenal launch £40m bid for Wilfried Zaha
Arsenal have reportedly pounced for the Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha by making a £40m bid, The Guardian reports.
The 26-year-old has emerged as the Gunners’ top transfer target this summer, with Unai Emery’s side in the market for attacking reinforcements and Zaha desperate to join the Emirates outfit.
Discussions over a transfer fee have proved to be a major hurdle so far, though, with the Eagles understood to want at least £80m for the 26-year-old Ivorian – almost double Arsenal’s limited £45m budget.
Roy Hodgson’s side have already sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United for £50m and are therefore refusing to budge on Arsenal asking price.
The report claims, Arsenal have tried their luck with an opening bid of £40m for Zaha – who has scored 35 goals in 180 appearances during his 2nd successful spell at Selhurst Park.
