Man United linked with a move to sign FC Porto star

Manchester United are weighing up a January move for Eder Militao from FC Porto, according to Daily Record reporter Duncan Castles.

Militao is a potential option to improve United defence if manager Jose Mourinho is unable to secure a marquee signing this January.

Castles broke the story last week that the Red Devils were interested in Porto defender Eder Militao despite his lack of experience at the top level in Europe.

Speaking to the Transfer Window podcast, he shed more light on United’s apparent interest in the Brazil international ahead of the January transfer window, revealing that Premier League champions Manchester City had previously shown an interest.

“The ongoing multi-year search for a reliable defensive heart of Man United defence…” said Castles.

“Another name they are looking at and have proposed as an option in January is Eder Militao. He is a 20-year-old only signed by Porto in the summer from Sao Paolo.

“He has been watched by a number of English clubs before – he was on Man City’s watchlist.

“He is an alternative if Mourinho can’t get what he really wants, which is an experienced centre-half in January.”

Militao, 20, moved to the Portuguese giants in the summer after the club opted to take a punt on the defender.

The centre-back has scored once in 14 games for FC Porto this season.
