Done Deal: Manchester United sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea

Manchester United have announced the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea on a three-year deal.

Earlier reports emerged that a transfer had all but been completed and the Red Devils have now confirmed that the 28-year-old has signed a contract until 2020.

The Serbian leaves the west Londoners after appearing in 151 matches during his second spell at Stamford Bridge, and the midfielder has revealed that he would like to make a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Matic told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to have joined Manchester United. To work with Jose Mourinho once again was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“I have enjoyed my time at Chelsea and would like to thank the club and the fans for their support. I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates and to start training with them.

“This is a very exciting time for the club and I am looking forward to playing my part in creating more history for this great club.”

Neither club have revealed the signing fee, but it has been suggested that the 28-year-old could cost somewhere in the region of £40m.
