Arsenal to launch £40m for Monaco ace Thomas Lemar

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly interested in signing Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco with a new improved €45m offer.

The north Londoners had a £30m bid turned down last week as the French champions made it clear they do not wish to see the midfielder leave.

According to the French newspaper L’Equipe, Wenger is hopeful to land a player he is said to “admire” by increasing the club’s offer by £10m.

The 21-year-old, who joined Monaco from fellow Caen in 2015, has three years left on his current contract at Stade Louis II.

The Frenchman’s form in the 2016/17 season caught the attention of a number of Europeans elite clubs including La Liga’s Atletico Madrid and Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Lemar has scored nine times and registered 10 assists in 34 appearances last term helping the Ligue 1 trophy eight points clear of Paris Saint-Germain.
