Australian cricketer Phil Hughes passes away after head injury

Cricket Australia has confirmed that the 25-year-old cricketer Phillip Hughes has died in St Vincents Hospital, three days after being hit on the head by a ball at SCG.

Hughes suffered the head injury by a bouncer from NSW paceman Sean Abbott during the Sheffield Shield match at the SCG on Tuesday. He underwent surgery and was in coma but never regained consciousness.

Hughes made his Test debut against South Africa in 2009, had played 26 Tests for his country.
