Fulham to battle Arsenal for Hector Herrera

Fulham have reportedly taken the lead in the race to sign Porto midfielder Hector Herrera, according to Mexican outlet Record.

The 28-year-old Mexican, who has impressed with El Tri at the World Cup in Russia, earning him links with AS Roma and Real Madrid.

The report suggest that the Cottagers have submitted an offer for the Mexico international, which the Portuguese outfit declined before asking for a higher transfer fee.

The report goes on to claim that Arsenal had been linked with Herrera in the past, but with Lucas Torreira joining the Gunners and Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny signing new deals at the Emirates, their interest has been cooled down.

Herrera has scored 26 goals and registered 32 assists in 192 appearances for FC Porto since his move from Pachuca in 2013.
