Mitchell Marsh pens Surrey for 2018 season

Surrey have announced that Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has signed as their overseas player for the 2018 season.

The 26-year-old Australian, who has played 21 Tests, 48 one-day internationals, and nine T20s, will be available for the entire 2018 season for the London-based club, subject to international commitments.

“The opportunity to challenge myself in English conditions is something I can’t wait for,” said the right-handed batsman.

“I have followed the team closely this year and hopefully I’ll be able to contribute to some silverware, along with helping a young squad grow and improve.”

Surrey director of cricket, Alec Stewart, added: “I’m very pleased to announce the signing of Mitch Marsh, a highly talented, exciting and motivated international all-rounder.

“His all-round abilities and experience will add great balance and depth to our squad in all formats of the game and I look forward to welcoming him to the Kia Oval for the start of next season.”

Marsh will have to skip the mega-rich T20 tournament Indian Premier League in 2018, that coincides with the county season.
