Chelsea Step Up Pursuit of Bouaddi Despite PSG Competition

The transfer saga surrounding Ayyoub Bouaddi is heating up fast, and Chelsea appear to be pushing hardest to land Lille’s 18-year-old midfield prodigy this summer. But it’s far from straightforward.

Premier League Giants Circle Lille’s Crown Jewel

Bouaddi was already on the radar of Europe’s elite before the World Cup, but his performance in Morocco’s 1-1 draw with Brazil has sharpened the focus considerably. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all in the mix — and the competition is fierce.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has been in talks to sign Bouaddi, with the Gunners having scouted him regularly. Mikel Arteta’s side view him as a long-term midfield cornerstone alongside the likes of Declan Rice. Arsenal have already submitted a bid of €60 million, but Lille turned it down flat.

Lille are holding firm, demanding a minimum of €70 million — a figure that could push beyond €80 million, matching the record fee received when Nicolas Pépé departed for Arsenal.

The PSG Wildcard

Here’s the twist that could derail every Premier League club’s hopes. Bouaddi’s biggest dream is reportedly to play for Paris Saint-Germain, the club he supported growing up — and that preference could complicate Chelsea’s pursuit significantly, particularly with the Blues absent from the Champions League next season.

Verdict

Bouaddi is the real deal — a generational talent who’s already thriving on the biggest stage. Chelsea are pushing hard, Arsenal are bidding, and Liverpool are lurking. But until PSG make their move, nobody can truly feel confident.
