Everton interested in Middlesbrough’s Aidan Morris

Everton are keeping a close eye on Middlesbrough midfielder Aidan Morris, with reports from transfer insider Ekrem Konur suggesting the Toffees are ‘monitoring’ the American ahead of a possible summer swoop.

Who Is Aidan Morris?

The 24-year-old is no ordinary Championship midfielder. Morris came through the academy system at Columbus Crew, winning the MLS Cup twice and earning a spot in the 2023 All-Star team before making history as the first homegrown Crew player to sign for a European club when he joined Boro in the summer of 2024.

This season, he’s been absolutely pivotal to Middlesbrough’s promotion charge, featuring in 27 Championship games as they battle Frank Lampard’s Coventry City for the title.

Why Everton Should Be Excited

Morris ticks a lot of boxes. He’s a dynamic, combative midfielder with top-level ambition — exactly the profile David Moyes needs as Everton push for European qualification for the first time since 2017-18.

Konur also notes that Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are circling, so Everton will need to move decisively. At a Transfermarkt valuation of just £6m, he looks like serious value — though expect any realistic fee to far exceed that figure.

The Bigger Picture

Everton host Manchester United on Monday night looking to complete a rare Premier League double over the Red Devils — something they’ve only managed once before, back in 2013-14. A win would strengthen their European push and, crucially, boost their transfer budget.

Morris feels like exactly the kind of smart, forward-thinking signing that could define Everton’s next chapter.
