Arsenal lining up move for Rodrygo as backup to Eberechi Eze
Arsenal could turn their attention to Real Madrid winger Rodrygo if their pursuit of Eberechi Eze fails this summer, according to Caught Offside.
The Gunners have already strengthened their attack with Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres, but manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to add even more firepower in the push for the Premier League title.

Eze Still the Priority
Eze remains Arsenal’s main target after another standout season at Crystal Palace. While his £68 million release clause has expired, Palace are believed to be open to negotiations for the right price. The versatile England international offers Premier League experience, creativity, and the ability to play both as an attacking midfielder and from the left wing.
However, if a deal for Eze stalls, Arsenal could look to Rodrygo. The Brazilian has been a key part of Madrid’s forward line, but reports claim Los Blancos could consider a sale in the £78–£87 million range.
A Difficult Deal for the Gunners
Arsenal have already spent close to £200 million this window, meaning further signings may hinge on player sales. If they are reluctant to meet Palace’s valuation for Eze, a more expensive move for Rodrygo appears unlikely.
Complicating matters further, Manchester City are also eyeing the 23-year-old. With Jack Grealish joining Everton on loan and Savinho plus James McAtee nearing moves away, City are preparing a big-money bid that could price Arsenal out of the race.
Unless the Gunners raise significant funds through outgoings, Rodrygo’s arrival at the Emirates seems improbable. For now, Arsenal’s focus remains on securing Eze — but with City lurking for Rodrygo, the window’s final weeks could see a high-profile transfer battle unfold.
