West Ham set to land Danish goalkeeper Mads Hermansen in £12m deal

West Ham United are on the verge of bolstering their goalkeeping department with the signing of highly-rated Danish shot-stopper Mads Hermansen. The Hammers have reportedly agreed a £12 million deal with Leicester City for the 25-year-old, with the move expected to be finalised early next week.

Premier League Return on the Horizon for Hermansen

Hermansen, who joined Leicester from Brøndby in 2023, made a strong impression during his debut season in English football. Despite the Foxes’ relegation, the Denmark U21 international showcased his composure and technical ability, especially with the ball at his feet—qualities that haven’t gone unnoticed by West Ham’s new boss Graham Potter.

Determined to stay in the Premier League, Hermansen has already informed his representatives of his desire to remain in the top flight, and West Ham have moved swiftly to make that happen.

Potter Wants Ball-Playing Keeper to Challenge Areola

West Ham’s pursuit of Hermansen aligns with Potter’s vision of playing out from the back. The former Chelsea manager is keen to inject more competition into the squad and sees Hermansen as the ideal candidate to challenge current No.1 Alphonse Areola.

With no other clubs currently in the race for Hermansen, the East Londoners are confident of wrapping up the deal in the coming days.
