Everton eye ambitious move for Takefusa Kubo

Everton are reportedly weighing up a summer swoop for Japanese sensation Takefusa Kubo, with Real Sociedad slapping a £30 million price tag on the talented winger.

According to TEAMtalk, the 24-year-old has caught the attention of the Toffees as they look to beef up their attacking options in the current transfer window. With their frontline in need of fresh firepower, Kubo is emerging as one of the more intriguing options on Everton’s radar.

From La Masia to La Liga: Kubo’s Journey So Far

Kubo’s career has been anything but straightforward. Hailing from Kawasaki, he made headlines early on after joining Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy. However, due to FIFA regulations, his time in Catalonia ended prematurely, leading him back to Japan before Real Madrid came calling in 2019.

Despite the buzz around his signing, Kubo never truly settled at the Bernabéu. A string of loan spells followed before Real Sociedad secured him permanently in 2022. Since then, he’s featured close to 150 times for the La Liga outfit, notching 23 goals and 18 assists. His flair, pace, and technical ability continue to turn heads—even if consistency has sometimes eluded him.

Everton’s Summer Rebuild Continues

After securing Thierno Barry from Villarreal to help replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton are now prioritising a wide attacker. The club opted not to pursue permanent deals for loanees Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom, leaving a gap on the flanks.

Kubo joins a growing list of names linked with a move to Goodison Park, alongside Ipswich Town standout Omari Hutchinson. At £30 million, the Real Sociedad winger represents a realistic and exciting target—especially if Everton can fend off interest from rival clubs.

Will Kubo Be Lured to Merseyside?

With financial flexibility and a clear need for attacking depth, Everton are well-placed to make a serious play for Kubo. However, it remains to be seen if the Japanese international is their top priority—or if they’re keeping their options open as the transfer window heats up.
