Chelsea push for Mohammed Kudus despite West Ham rejection

Chelsea’s ambitious summer rebuild shows no signs of slowing down, as the Blues continue to chase West Ham star Mohammed Kudus—despite seeing an initial £50 million bid knocked back.

According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea remain firmly in pursuit of the Ghanaian international, even after the Hammers rejected their opening offer. Kudus has an £85 million release clause, and West Ham are holding out for a fee closer to that figure. Yet Chelsea are expected to return with a fresh bid as they look to further bolster Enzo Maresca’s attacking options.

Chelsea’s Attacking Overhaul in Full Swing

The Blues have already made serious moves in the market. They triggered Liam Delap’s £30 million release clause to bring the young striker in from Ipswich Town, before agreeing a £55 million deal—plus bonuses—for Brighton’s Joao Pedro. They’re also closing in on Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, adding even more firepower to their frontline.

Despite the influx of attacking talent, Chelsea’s focus on Kudus suggests they want a proven Premier League performer who can operate across the front line. Kudus, who impressed last season with his dynamism and creativity, fits that profile perfectly.

Kudus Arrival Could Spark Major Exits

If Chelsea do land Kudus, it could trigger a major reshuffle within the squad. The likes of Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke could find themselves edged out, especially with Joao Pedro potentially slotting in as a No.9 under Maresca’s system.

Jackson has already been linked with an exit, and Kudus’s arrival may accelerate his departure. Madueke’s position also looks precarious as Chelsea look to prioritise players brought in under the new regime.

With big names potentially on the way out and top-tier talent coming in, Chelsea’s summer transfer window is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic in recent years—and the Kudus saga is far from over.
