Newcastle United lining up loan move for Marc Cucurella
Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a loan-to-buy deal for Chelsea’s sidelined player Marc Cucurella before the summer transfer window closes.
The club aims to bolster their squad under manager Eddie Howe’s leadership and has targeted both Kieran Tierney from Arsenal and Cucurella for the left-back position, as per Daily Telegraph.
Cucurella, 25, was signed by the Blues for a hefty £60 million last year but struggled to meet expectations during his debut season. Hindered by injury and stiff competition, he played various defensive roles. However, Chelsea’s left-back roster is well-equipped with Chilwell as the first choice and promising talent like Lewis Hall and Ian Maatsen.
Newcastle United aims to secure Cucurella and Tierney, offering Chelsea a loan fee for Cucurella with an option to buy, covering his wages. The interest in Cucurella stems from sporting director Dan Ashworth’s history with the player’s transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion.
