Arsenal lining up move for Youssouf Fofana
Arsenal may consider pursuing Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana if their pursuit of Declan Rice from West Ham United falls through.
While the Gunners have had two offers rejected by West Ham, they face competition from Manchester City, who recently made a £90m bid for Rice that was swiftly rejected.
Despite his contract expiring in 2024, West Ham United insists on a £100m price tag. Arsenal remains keen on Rice but they are making contingency plans.
L’Equipe reports that Fofana has caught Arsenal’s attention, and a potential deal could be struck for around £30m. However, the North Londoners faces competition from Inter Milan, Roma, Newcastle United, and West Ham, who view Fofana as a potential replacement for Rice.
The 24-year-old midfielder has impressed at Monaco since joining in 2020 and could provide a cheaper alternative to Rice. Arsenal are also in pursuit of other midfield signings following Granit Xhaka’s expected departure and potential interest in Thomas Partey.
