Arsenal favourites to sign Kai Havertz
Arsenal are reportedly seriously considering the possibility of signing Chelsea forward Kai Havertz during the summer transfer window.
There is currently a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the German international at Stamford Bridge. It is believed that Havertz has expressed his desire to leave the club before the start of the 2023-24 season.
Havertz was one of Chelsea’s top goal scorers last season, along with Raheem Sterling. He found the back of the net nine times in various competitions, with seven of those goals coming in the Premier League.
Despite Havertz’s contributions, Chelsea finished in 12th place in the league table. As a result, it is expected that there will be significant changes at the club during the summer, with several players arriving and departing.
Recent reports have raised doubts about Havertz’s future, as it is rumoured that Los Blancos are interested in signing the frontman following Karim Benzema’s departure from the Spanish club.
However, it appears that Real Madrid’s interest in Havertz has cooled down due to Chelsea’s asking price. The West London outfit are reportedly demanding at least £51m plus additional payments for the forward.
According to The Guardian, Arsenal have now emerged as strong contenders for the German player. As manager Mikel Arteta sees him as the ideal signing for the current transfer market.
The report suggests that Chelsea values Havertz at around £70m. However, it is unlikely that the North Londoners would be willing to pay such a high fee, especially considering their potential pursuit of Declan Rice from West Ham United, which would require a significant portion of their budget.
Chelsea would prefer not to sell Havertz to a rival Premier League club, but Arsenal could become the favourites as Real Madrid’s interest seems to have diminished.
