Manchester United eyeing up a move for Castello Lukeba
Manchester United have reportedly outlined their intentions to move for Lyon centre-back Castello Lukeba.
The 20-year-old has become a regular starter for the French outfit, having played in 52 senior matches and scored three goals after coming up through the academy.
He has been a Lyon player since 2011, and has already started in 19 of the team’s games in the Ligue 1 this season, scoring one goal from 22 appearances.
Although the teenager signed a fresh contract at the Groupama Stadium only last year, the deal is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
Football Insider reported that the Red Devils have taken notice of Lukeba’s situation and scouts from United are carefully observing his displays as they consider making an offer in the upcoming transfer window.
Nevertheless, Les Gones have purportedly placed a valuation of over £30m on the centre-back, and the Red Devils may need to ward off interest from various other European clubs to secure the player’s signature.
The Frenchman is capable of playing as a left-back as well and has already amassed five appearances for the France Under-21 team, although he has yet to receive a call-up to the senior squad.
