Chelsea have got themselves in pole position in the race for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol at the end of the campaign.

The Croatia international has since signed a new long-term contract, but Calciomercato claim that Chelsea are still favourites to sign him.

The west London outfit recently sold Timo Werner back to Leipzig, and it has been suggested that they could benefit from the same.

The Premier League giants have been building a close bond with the German club and they could secure a double deal at the end of the campaign.

Talks are already held to sign Christopher Nkunku and it is reported that Chelsea could discuss a deal for Gvardiol too.

It could take more than £80m to prise away the youngster from Die Roten Bullen.
