Leeds United keen on signing Juan Mata
Leeds United have reportedly made an offer to sign free agent Juan Mata this summer.
The 34-year-old is currently without a club after his contract at Man United expired last month.
According to AS, Leeds Utd sporting director Victor Orta has made contact with Mata’s father over an agreement.
The report goes on to claim that the Yorkshire giants could face fierce competition from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce for the player’s signature.
The Spaniard is believed to be open to the prospect of remaining in the Premier League.
During his seven-and-a-half-year spell with the Red Devil, Mata has scored 51 goals and registered 47 assists in 285 appearances across all competitions, but he was unable to score any goals in his 12 matches last season.
Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has already strengthened the squad with six new signings this summer, with Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra all joining the club on permanent deals.
