Arsenal have announced the signing of Fabio Vieira from FC Porto, after the Gunners agreed to a €40m deal to bring the Portuguese midfielder to the Emirates Stadium from his homeland.

The 24-year-old had signed a ‘long-term contract’ with the north Londoners, which is believed to be a five-year agreement.

He has been given the number 21 shirt, which was previously worn by Calum Chambers before his departure to Aston Villa.

The versatile midfielder has scored 10 goals and registered 18 assists in 76 appearances for Porto, winning two Primeira Liga titles, one Taca de Portugal and the UEFA Youth League in 2019.

Vieira becomes Mikel Arteta’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.
