Manchester United have reportedly placed emphasis on signing Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo.

The 22-year-old defender has been in scintillating form for the Catalan giants during the 2021-22 campaign, finding the back of the net on two occasions from 22 appearances in all competitions.

The Uruguay international has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Camp Nou, though, and the speculation surrounding his future ‘has gathered pace’.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool are also thought to be weighing up a move for the Uruguayan, who racked up 61 appearances for Barca since making his debut in 2019.

According to Marca, there is also a firm interest from the Red Devils, who are keeping a close eye on the player’s situation at Camp Nou.

The report adds that a new contract for the centre-back is not a priority for the Blaugrana due to their financial problems, with the club focusing on offloading players.
