Leicester City have reportedly taken the lead in the race to sign Schalke 04 centre-back Ozan Kabak.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan at Liverpool, with 13 appearances in all competitions, but the Merseysiders decided against signing him on a permanent deal.

The Turkey international is expected to leave Schalke in this summer’s transfer window, with the Bundesliga outfit believed to have placed a €15m asking price on him.

According to The Express, the Foxes are at the head of the queue to sign the centre-back, although the 2015-16 English champions are yet to submit an official offer for the youngster’s services.

Kabak has made nine top flight appearances for Liverpool last season.
