Manchester United have reportedly placed emphasis on signing Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres in a bid to bolster their back four.

The Premier League giants have made it a priority to bring in a long-term partner for club captain Harry Maguire in the centre of defence ahead of next season.

Torres, 24, is one of a number of rumoured options for the Red Devils, having risen through the ranks at Villarreal to become one of La Liga’s hottest prospects.

Spanish outlet AS suggests that Man United are “obsessed” with the idea of signing the Spain international, who has a €50m release clause in his contract.

However, it is suggested that the Mancunian giants face a big challenge trying to persuade the Spaniard to join them as he is not keen on moving to the Premier League.
