Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to fight it out for the signature of Flamengo starlet Gerson when the summer window eventually opens.

The 23-year-old midfielder has supposedly garnered the interest of Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window, but the Lilywhites are said to have had a £16million bid for the Brazilian rejected by Flamengo.

Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are both thought to be keeping tabs on the central midfielder, and according to Fox Sports, the Blues are also in the race for the playmaker, who still has three years left to run on his contract.

Gerson only joined Flamengo last year following a three-and-a-half-year spell with AS Roma, which also saw him loaned out to Fiorentina.
