Los Blancos are keen on signing the Dutchman following his stuttering starts to the new season.

The 28-year-old defender has made a huge impact at the club since he signed for the Reds in 2018 January.

The Netherlands international helped the Merseyside giants keep the best defensive record in the Premier League last season and also played an integral role in helping them to win the Champions League trophy.

However, it is highly unlikely that the Reds will entertain any offers for the centre-back during the mid-season transfer window.
