Real Madrid want Benfica forward Jota?
The European champions Real Madrid have reportedly identified Benfica’s teenage forward Jota as a potential signing for the start of next season, according to Spanish outlet AS.
The 19-year-old Portuguese finished as top scorer after helping his nation to glory at the Under-19s European Championship last year.
He has since broken into Benfica’s first team following some impressive displays for their reserves side, attracting interests with a move to a European heavyweight.
The report suggests that Real Madrid are among the suitors interested in signing the teenager, though they have already had one offer knocked back by the Portuguese outfit.
Jota has a £26m release clause written in his deal, which the club are trying to raise beyond the £100m mark as part of a new contract.
Madrid see Jota as the ideal replacement to Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Juventus in pre-season after nine years of unprecedented success in the Spanish capital.
