Manchester United are mulling over a summer move for Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman.

United boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be in the transfer market on signing at least one new central midfielder ahead of next season as Michael Carrick enters the latter stages of his contract.

Strootman, 27, was linked with the Red Devils during Louis van Gaal’s time and according to Calciomercato.com, Mourinho is a great admirer of the veteran Dutchman.

The midfielder, who has also previously been linked with the Merseyside outfit Everton, will see his Italian club contract expire in June 2018.

Strootman has scored thrice in 25 Serie A appearances this season, while he has also scored once in five Europa League games for the Giallorossi during the 2016-17 campaign.
