Shane Jurgensen named NZ bowling coach

Australian Shane Jurgensen has been named as the full-time New Zealand bowling coach until the 2019 World Cup in England.

The former Western Australian seamer will have his second stint in the role, having been the Black Caps’ bowling coach from 2008-10.

Jurgensen, 40, joins the head coach Mike Hesson, batting coach Craig McMillan and manager Mike Sandle in signing on to the 2019 tournament.

“Shane’s been impressive with the structure he’s brought to the bowling unit and we’re pleased to be able to lock him into a long-term contract,” head coach Hesson said in a media release on Tuesday.

“His knowledge of all conditions and his overall experience has been evident during his time with us.”

Black Caps open their two-test series against Pakistan, starting in Christchurch on Thursday.
