Rumours: Atletico want PSG striker
The La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are reportedly considering to break their transfer record in order to lure Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani to the Vicente Calderon this summer, according to Marca as quoted by Sport EN.
The Rojiblancos currently find themselves second in the league table after 28 matches, having scored 42 times this season, 39 fewer than Real Madrid, who sit in third position.
The club’s duo Mario Mandzukic and Jackson Martinez have both struggled to make an impact in recent seasons and the report has suggested, Atletico boss Diego Simeone sees Cavani as the ideal option to re-build his team’s output.
The 29-year-old Uruguayan has scored 17 goals in 38 appearances for the French outfit this season, but is believed to be keen on a move away from the Ligue 1 champions this summer.
The signing of Cavani will not be an easy task for the Spanish outfit. The striker cost the Parisians €64m in June 2013.
